Basement Entry Doors More Weatherproof

Basement Entry Doors – Weather protection an entrance door can go a long way to keep the basement comfortable, whether it’s summer or winter. The largest numbers of drafts that come from doors occur from poorly assembled doors. Sealing strips, Backer rods or drafts can help guard doors to reduce the amount of hot or cold air entering a basement. Filling the holes with door insulation will also help close any holes between the frame and the door itself.

Close the basement entry doors and look for any holes in the daytime. If you can see daylight everywhere around the door, there are holes in the weather crash. If the weather crash is intact and daylight is still shining, use insulation tape to seal gaps. Clean the surface of the door where insulation tape will be used. Cut the tape to fit the part of the door to be insulated and remove the tape. Apply insulation tape to the door frame in front or behind the existing sealing strips. Press it firmly to the door frame.

Install a sponsor rod if there are large holes between the bottom of the door and the floor, in addition to adding insulating tape. This step is easiest to do with the door on the hinges and closed to get the optimal horizontal position near the bottom of the door. Measure the width of the basement entry doors and cut the backer rod to fit if it is too long. The Backer Bar is located near the bottom of the door on the inside of the basement and will hardly handle the word to effectively prevent drag into the basement. Put a draft guard at the bottom of the door to prevent drag from coming from within. The couple of doors are completely airtight and the draft of the guards block inbounds air, especially when the wind blows.
